Lazy photoshop after work

Trying to be bolder with colour, not sure it’s working.

Work in progress, super zoomed in.

I watched Drive again the other day… one thing led to another and before I knew it I had ended up with this.

The Dark Knight.

I couldn’t do only one of the three.
Personal work - practising likenesses and making images out of other elements (his eyes are two-face coins, for example)

Akira Kurosawa likeness sketches.
For my Film Director book cover project, I’m thinking the third will be based on the work of Akira Kurosawa. Just some sketches to practise his likeness before trying to fit various samurai within his face.
Need to really start working out where I’m going with each project now. Times are getting a little bit stressy.

Valley View Motel & Mr Curtis

More WIP images for my extracts of Ethan Coen’s ‘Destiny’.

Outside the ring is proving harder to deal with, really not sure on compositions, so will be doing a lot more roughs, I think. Any feedback would be great! Where can I improve? Thanks :)

Alfred Hitchcock - Sketches of likeness.

One of my uni projects this term is to do a series of book jackets for biographies/books about film directors. I want to produce a minimum of 3, at the moment looking at Hitchcock, then hope to be able to do others for Cronenberg, the Coen brothers, etc. There are a whole list of names I’d like to get through, but I always set myself too much to do, so I’m trying to be realistic this time round.
I wanted to link my projects this time, as last Unit saw 2 wildly different projects (monoprint extracts and a disappointing colour graphic novel which didn’t turn out how I wanted), and the tutors think I need a bit more consistency within my projects. So, as I’m hoping to do the D&AD Little White Lies project, I thought of doing another film related project, which could then be applied to book jackets/point of sale posters.
They’d be portrait based, but then have images from the films within the faces… kind of like how my Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy has Gary Oldman’s face with other characters within it. Quite hard to explain what I mean, but I have an idea in my head. Need to get cracking really.
Anyway, this page is just some drawings trying to get the likeness right before I begin painting, but as usual, eyes/noses/mouths/basically everything is all a bit off. D’oh. Back to the drawing board.

Page from New York Sketchbook.
Angry man with mole seen at Liberty Island.

Pencil. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to accurately depict his face meltingly furious stare. Didn’t ask what was up, I would’ve thought he’d be happy, so close to the Statue of Liberty.

Roadrunner.

Please let me know what you think - This is unfinished, just uploading because I’d like to get feedback/criticism/advice.
Third in a series of character portraits - collaborative effort with Ro, outside of uni work. Quite enjoy doing these, more to come! :)
