Hitchcock T-Shirt.

Haven’t posted in a while. Turns out trying to create work and imagery around a full time job isn’t as easy as it sounds, especially when you have to stare at a mac screen for 10 hours a day in a room with no windows. Eyes start to hurt.

So I thought I’d try and see how I can get my existing work out there in different ways, trying out different print companies for different things. Got a parcel this morning with this t shirt and some postcards.

My new month’s resolution is to actually get back to drawing/grow some semblance of facial hair for Movember. Hopefully one of those will succeed, so here’s also a very sneaky peek of the beginning stages of a project I’ve started this week.

Bonus points if you can guess what it is!

Hopefully blogging about it will pressure me into finishing it soon!

Alfred Hitchcock prints

1 A2 to go up in my degree show, and some A3 ones to go on sale in a limited run. Printed on lovely 310gsm etching paper. After much stress, things are finally starting to turnaround and look like they’re on the right track. I do hope I haven’t jinxed it now.
Our university’s Degree Show begins on the 26th June - more details soon, but I do urge anyone in the Norwich area to come along - some really talented people showing off their hardwork. It’s going to be grand.

Really need advice on colour!

These are the 3 posters/covers that will be in my set (when they’re finished - still lots and lots of tiny details and moving and redrawing to be done) But at the moment, I’m really struggling with how to colour Akira Kurosawa’s cover.

Hitchcock is a blood red to link with Psycho, and the Coen’s are a light blue to link to a snowy feel in Fargo. Really, really not sure how to colour Akira Kurosawa’s one.
Any advice would be very much appreciated! What do you think might work better?

Hitchcock on Hitchcock

Bit of progress. Wanted to see how it might look with the back cover and a bit of text on it.
Still bits missing from the composition at various points, but I think I want to wait to see what tutors think before I do all the tiny extra bits. The plughole is bothering me, not sure if it works - any feedback would be great.
(It’s supposed to be like the plughole from Psycho and the blood red going into it…)
Typefaces not final, I’m not a Graphic Designer, so I know that’s a weak point - good thing I live with one that doesn’t mind helping me at times :)

I also wanted to try to see what it might look like as a wrap around cover - failed at using the perspective tool on Photoshop….

Let me know what you think? Thanks :)

Also… another call for help for votes in the T Shirt competition I’ve entered -

Hitchcock and the Coen Brothers.
WIP ideas for my book cover project on film directors. They’re made out of images/characters/scenes from their films.
Quite enjoying these, actually. Need to think of a third director for the set. I initially thought Scorsese, then I can fit Daniel Day Lewis’ big moustache in Gangs of New York as one of his eyebrows. But then, it could be nice to do a bit of a different culture and time period, perhaps Kurosawa.
As always, any feedback would be greatly appreciated
Thanks!
