"Out of Gas"

Gallery1988 are having a rather shiny new show tomorrow night, with all things Joss Whedon related on show. I’ve seen some terrific stuff online for it already.
This is my contribution to it. An edition of 15 giclee prints, this image was inspired by my favourite episode of Firefly (and pretty much anything, ever), “Out of Gas”.
Prints will be on show and on sale at Gallery1988 West starting tomorrow night, and (if anyone is that way inclined) will make their way online the day after.
I cannot wait to see pictures of the rest of the show, some mighty talented people are involved.
(As ever, feedback would be appreciated!)

Mr Gary Hunt http://gary-hunt.tumblr.com/ has put together a lovely little website for our Illustration class ahead of our upcoming degree show. My classmates are a wonderfully talented bunch and you can find links to all their blogs and websites throughout the website (this post would be rather long if I listed them individually, and it would take away from the fun of exploring the website).
It should be a great show, there’s some terrific stuff on show. Do come along if you’re in the Norfolk area (even if you aren’t, it really is worth the travel fare), and you will be able to buy some great prints to keep!

Illustration NUCA Norwich University College of the Arts Degree Show Exhibition

The exhibition Private View went really well, lots of people turned up which was great! Quite a few people bought the brochures and some of my peers managed to sell some of their images which was great! :)

Figured I’d upload an image of how my monoprints looked in the exhibition space - with Chris and myself standing either side so you can see the full effect ;) Hopefully some people liked looking at these, spent quite a while on them.

Big thank you to all those who turned up, as well as to Stacey and Sian for organising everyone, letting us know what Glyn had in mind etc :)
To those that didn’t make it down - it’s still open until Friday!

Illustration Exhibition Growth Gallery Monoprint Portraits Twins

Sneakiest of peeks at the monoprints I’m going to be showing at our Year 2 Exhibition on Monday entitled “Growth” - subject of these prints is how my twin and I have grown from the same original cells (still can’t wrap my head round that) to where we are now. Originally I did these in pencil ‘cause I hadn’t done any straightforward pencil drawings for ages, but then I didn’t really like them and my tutor didn’t either, so that really settled the fact I’d redo them. Chose to monoprint so that the cloudy nature and haziness of the prints makes you look closer (or at least I hope it does) in order to see all the details - kinda echoing the fact that sometimes people need to double take in order to see if it’s really me or Chris.
So here’s the set of prints - 10 in total - not the final formation, but my floor’s not big enough. Also, I need to window mount these properly, and will be doing that tomorrow when I find a bevel cutter. Also want to sand down the frames a bit and repaint them as not overly happy with how they’re looking at the moment. Also, the one without paper in it has split, which is a pain in the backside. So will be hoping I can pick up another tomorrow. I hate it when things go wrong last minute - always have to make things harder for myself.
Sorry for the bad photo… actually no I’m not - if you want a clearer look at these, you can come to see them at our exhibition! There’s some fantastic stuff going on display - I got a quick look at some of the stuff my peers will be putting up, and everything is looking great - really cool to be putting stuff up alongside such talented people :)
Our Private View at Stew Gallery in Norwich is on Monday - do come along - there’ll be food… and wine (which might actually help make these prints look half decent!!!)

Exhibition Monoprint Growth Illustration Drawing Portraits Twins Monozygote

A series of monoprints that were initially intended to go up in a Year 2 Illustration exhibition, but will no longer be used. (I’ve thought up another idea more personal and more relevant to the theme of the exhibition)

Theme of the Exhibition is “Growth”, so this set of images is based on how various parts of Norwich have ‘grown’ over the years. Eh, kind of a weak link, but I like how some of these turned out…. others less so.

If you’re free from the 18th - 22nd April, come to Stew Gallery (just off Magdalen Street, Norwich) to see NUCA Second Years exhibit :) the stuff that I’ve seen produced by my peers looks ruddy good indeed.
