Hitchcock T-Shirt.

Haven’t posted in a while. Turns out trying to create work and imagery around a full time job isn’t as easy as it sounds, especially when you have to stare at a mac screen for 10 hours a day in a room with no windows. Eyes start to hurt.

So I thought I’d try and see how I can get my existing work out there in different ways, trying out different print companies for different things. Got a parcel this morning with this t shirt and some postcards.

My new month’s resolution is to actually get back to drawing/grow some semblance of facial hair for Movember. Hopefully one of those will succeed, so here’s also a very sneaky peek of the beginning stages of a project I’ve started this week.

Bonus points if you can guess what it is!

Hopefully blogging about it will pressure me into finishing it soon!

Hello Chelmsford, Goodbye Norwich

Lack of updates lately due to the big move back home after uni.

Unfortunately I am yet to unpack my creativity from my uni boxes, so other than a few scribbles in my everyday daily drawing book (hopefully I’ll complete it’s fourth year and have the complete set up at the end of the year), I haven’t really been drawing that much - needed to unwind after a stressful few months.

So for now, here are some photos of my workspaces. What I had at Norwich, and now what I have at home in Essex - if you’re hawk-eyed, you might see some originals by http://jordanandrewcarter.tumblr.com/ and http://samanthakerr.tumblr.com/ on/near my new desk. Give them both a follow!

Now I have a set up, I can start producing stuff again. It might just be silly stuff, as I want to start drawing for fun again, but hopefully it will be something!

Part 1 of my FMP…..finally got it on vimeo! =)

This animation was part of my final major project which was based on a campaign promoting an iconic movie through the Picture House Cinema Chain. To use codes and hidden messages as a way to reveal the plot of the movie.

It was my first project where I learnt to use After Effects CS5 and I think i did a pretty good job as it was my first time animating! =)

A couple of months ago, I was asked by Ms Rekha Mistry (Graphic Communication) to produce some monoprints based on the Christopher Nolan film ‘Memento’ for a short animation as part of her Final Major Project. Here’s a link to the first animation, really nice to see my work moving, maybe something to experiment with over summer.

More of Rekha’s work can be seen at http://rekhamistry.tumblr.com/

Really enjoyed making the prints, and gave me an excuse to watch more Christopher Nolan films!

Final Degree show space in the NUCA Illustration studio.

Exhibiting screenprints inspired by 1950s boxing and a short story by Ethan Coen, as well as a portrait of Alfred Hitchcock created using images from his films.

Also on show is my portfolio, and a print rack containing screenprints of my Drive D&AD entry, as well as various other boxing related screenprints and a 10 page screenprinted book.

The screenprints and digital prints of Hitchcock are for sale, and I was really happy to hear today that a few have indeed been sold!

The show runs until the 3rd of July, which is when I graduate and ride off into the sunset to face the big scary world of illustration.

Mr Gary Hunt http://gary-hunt.tumblr.com/ has put together a lovely little website for our Illustration class ahead of our upcoming degree show. My classmates are a wonderfully talented bunch and you can find links to all their blogs and websites throughout the website (this post would be rather long if I listed them individually, and it would take away from the fun of exploring the website).
It should be a great show, there’s some terrific stuff on show. Do come along if you’re in the Norfolk area (even if you aren’t, it really is worth the travel fare), and you will be able to buy some great prints to keep!

Destiny - Screen Print Book

Ten page screen printed narrative of a boxing match. Edition of 10 A3 books.

To be on sale at my degree show.

Alfred Hitchcock prints

1 A2 to go up in my degree show, and some A3 ones to go on sale in a limited run. Printed on lovely 310gsm etching paper. After much stress, things are finally starting to turnaround and look like they’re on the right track. I do hope I haven’t jinxed it now.
Our university’s Degree Show begins on the 26th June - more details soon, but I do urge anyone in the Norwich area to come along - some really talented people showing off their hardwork. It’s going to be grand.

I now have a website.
I needed a more professional (less geeky) online portfolio.
Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Native.

Monoprint.

Reworking ideas for my Illustration class’ exhibition publication. Really wasn’t happy with my initial submission (likeness was off, and it was just a rushed, bad drawing in general. Plus, my course leader doesn’t like Nicolas Cage, which I cannot comprehend)
Hopefully this one is a bit better. Need to maybe crop it better, though.
Our Degree Show opens on the 26th June, just under one month (which is terrifying - have a lot I want to get printed/sorted better), so keep that date free! Can’t say I haven’t given you enough notice :)
